Get Ready for Summer Summit 2025!

The days are long and the weather is getting warmer. Summer is just about here, and that means the International Doula Life Movement Summer Summit is right around the corner.

If you are not familiar with our annual Summer Summit, it’s a chance for IDLM students, prospective students, and graduates to connect with one another and hear from some of IDLM’s partners in the death care field as they share about their work. It’s sort of like a bunch of CE Nights all in a row, wrapped in a big celebration of our IDLM community.

This year we are planning to hear from palliative care doctor Cynthia Pan and the team of filmmakers who produced Through the Eys of a Death Doula, as well as from old friends like Tony Lynch, who specializes in men’s grief and mental health care. There may even be a few surprises!

In addition to the wonderful information brought to is by our visiting experts, the Summer Summit is also a great way to touch base with your IDLM colleagues and friends. You can learn about how they are progressing on their doula journeys and share what’s going on with your own. You can ask questions, get ideas, and maybe check the main website to see if there are any new classes on offer that might be of use to you.

Our two biggest priorities at IDLM are education and community, and the Summer Summit puts both of those things front and center. In the coming weeks we will be releasing more information about dates, times, and speakers so you can mark your calendars, and spotlighting some of our guest experts so you can learn more about their work. We are so excited to hear from all of them, and most importantly, we are excited to have you there too.

Time and Energy

Every aspect of life that requires you to show up is going to demand two major resources: time and energy. Whether the challenge is raising a family, maintaining a career, going back to school to gain new skills, or just indulging in a hobby that enriches your spirit—if you don’t put your energy into it, you won’t get good results. And if you don’t put any time in, well, it might not happen at all.

A Foundation for the Future

What distinguishes IDLM from many other programs is its integrative and forward-thinking approach. IDLM prepares doulas to work with hospice systems, not outside of them. The curriculum includes education on early hospice enrollment advocacy, regulatory awareness, ethical boundaries, and professional communication within healthcare environments.
